Getting started
- Install ConnectedCam on your iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and the ConnectedCam companion app on your Mac (macOS 13 or later). Keep the Mac app in your Applications folder.
- Open the Mac app. The first time, macOS asks you to allow the ConnectedCam camera extension. Follow the prompt; on macOS 15 and later the switch is in System Settings, General, Login Items & Extensions, Camera Extensions.
- Plug your iPhone into your Mac with a USB cable, unlock it, and tap Trust if asked. Open ConnectedCam on the iPhone.
- In your video app, choose “ConnectedCam” as the camera.
Troubleshooting
“ConnectedCam” isn't in my video app's camera list
Check that the camera extension is allowed (step 2 above); the ConnectedCam menu bar icon on your Mac shows its status. Then quit and reopen the video app, because most apps only look for cameras when they start.
The Mac doesn't see my iPhone
Unlock the iPhone and tap Trust when asked. Make sure ConnectedCam is open on the phone. Try another cable or port: some cables only charge and don't carry data.
The picture is frozen or black
Unplug the cable, plug it back in, and reopen your video app.
Which settings should I use?
1080p at 30 fps suits most calls. Use 4K or 60 fps for recordings and streams, if your iPhone supports them.
